ESL Conversation Groups

These sessions are designed for students who are interested in developing their speaking skills while learning about different topics relevant to immigrants.
Students simply have to sign up at the front desk (LRC 212).

  • Monday Sept. 28 @12pm: Interview skills with Annie Gilbert
  • Tuesday Sept. 29 @ 8 am: Manners in the U.S. with Amber (you will only have 30 min. because you already had a tutoring appointment with a student)
  • Wednesday Sept. 30 @ 2pm : Resources for ESL students with Belinda
  • Thursday Oct. 1 @ 11am : Shopping in the U.S. with Habib (you will only have 30 min. because you already had a tutoring appointment with a student)
  • Friday Oct.2 @ 9am: Slang & idioms with Debbie Goss

FREE ESL TUTORING


HOW TO ENROLL IN FREE ESL TUTORING

 

FIRST STEP: Register for TU300 via MySite.

  1. Go to the www.saddlebackcollege.edu home page and click on “MySite” on the left hand side.
  2. Log in “MySite”.
  3. Click “My classes”, then “Register for classes” and then “Add /Drop classes”.
  4. Add ticket # 17240 or 17325 (for ESL)
  5. Then click “Add Class” and follow the remaining registration steps.   That’s it!

 

SECOND STEP: Create an account on WCOnline to make appointments with tutors.

  1. Click on “To make a tutoring appointment click here!”
  2. If it is your first time,  click on “Click here to register” 
  3. Then create a new account and add your information.

 

THIRD STEP: Make an appointment with a tutor.

  1. Once you have created an account, you can login to access the Online Tutoring schedule by using your email and password.
  2. Once the student has logged in, the student’s name should be on the left hand corner.   (*If the student’s name is not correct, please logout and login again.)
  3. Click on “Limit to: show all” and scroll down to ESL or ESL Conversation.
  4. Find a tutor on the Center Schedule.
  5. There is a row in front of each tutor’s name showing:

  • Available time (white)
  • Unavailable time (light blue)

  1. Click on the white row. A smaller box will be open with the tutor’s name on top.

Fill out the following sections:

  • Time
  • Name of the Client (student)
  • Course
  • Instructor’s name
  • What would you like to work on?

  1. After the appointment has been made, the color of the box will turn from white to dark blue. →Your appointment!

 

To cancel an appointment:

Click on the time of your appointment. A smaller box will be open with the tutor’s name on top. Click on this box to cancel your appointment.
